Kim Delaney is an American actress best known as the character detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she received the Emmy Award. The most notable role she has played is her part as a character in All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives. Delaney is the daughter of an executive from the United Auto Workers who was also a mother. Delaney has four older brothers. She dreamed of being a reporter for the court in the early years of her life, however she began modelling in high school and eventually gaining commercials after moving from New York. Her first film role was as a teenage innocent on All My Children, a soap opera from 1981. The career of Delaney has been filled with numerous television films and dramas. She has not had a good or satisfying personal life. The skilled actor been battling alcoholism and has had two divorces. In 2005, the actress lost custody over her only son.
