Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American TV reporter, journalist and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was recruited as a reporter by KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976, she joined CBS affiliate WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). A few years later, she was general reporter at NBC News in Washington. She began to cover the White House in 1981 and was appointed chief congressional correspondent in 1988. Mitchell became the chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as the chief Foreign Affairs correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell was the host and panelist for the TV news program Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist in 1988's presidential debates in which George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded numerous times for her journalism achievements, such as her Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. She was also honored by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell began covering in the White House in 1981-1988, and during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. Mitchell was a reporter on a range of notable stories, including the Iran-Contra scandal as well as the tax reforms to the budget as well as arms control. She traveled along with Reagan on numerous occasions to meet with Reagan several times to attend summits and discuss topics like and the Iran Contra controversy.
